Village Hall Accounts 2001-2002

TREASURER’S REPORT PERIOD 01 APRIL 2001-31 MARCH 2002

1. In general, we have steadily accumulated funds - on 01 April 01 our current account balance stood at £1462.02. On 01 April 2002 the balance was £4078.33.

INCOME

2. The account shows that the major income was derived from:

a. Grant from Awards for All            £3607.00
b. Lottery Sales Approx                   £1250.00
c. Merlin Concert (July)                   £ 276.60
d. Harvest Dance Approx                 £ 120.00
e. Carol Service                             £ 52.87
f. Calendar Sales                             £ 150.00
g. Coffee Morning                           £ 143.50
h. Hire of Hall                                 £ 50.00

3. Sadly, the Foot and Mouth Epidemic precluded the running of the annual Village Fete, which had previously resulted in a profit of £6-700.00.

EXPENDITURE

4. Major items of expenditure have been:

a. Architects Fees £2634.12

b. Purchase of Blank Lottery Tickets    £ 194.73 (Large Stock Remaining)
c. Planning Application Fees                £ 190.00
d. Insurance                                       £ 217.22
e. Water                                           £ 34.94
f. Electricity                                     £ 59.25

5. The Quantity Surveyors Fees are £1363.00, which was paid outside this reporting period.

THE BIG PICTURE

6. You may be aware that the "worst case" nothing left out costing, is almost £250,000.00. We will in all probability have to raise 10% of this sum, allowing for 5% to be costed in kind ie. payment for volunteers time at £5.00 per hour, this will still leave us with £12,500.00 to find within no longer than 18 months.

7. Our improved current situation is due entirely to the very hard work of a number of individuals who have run the lottery and who have organized and supported the fund raising efforts mentioned in paragraph 2. Clearly, to raise the required amount we will need to redouble our efforts - we cannot expect the current fund raisers to do more - rather we need more of you to take an active part in fund raising.

8. The Committee is preparing bids for a variety of bids for grants from Local Authorities and Lottery Funds. We need your help.

THE ACCOUNT

9. As at 01 April, the balance of the current account was £4078.33. The Deposit Account balance is £524.68.

10. The account has been run by me on a "double entry" book-keeping format. There are Payment and Receipt Vouchers to support each entry in the account.

11. I regret that due to my absence on duty, I am unable to attend the AGM. The account books and accompanying vouchers are however available for examination. Anyone wishing to do so should contact the Chairman - Mrs Lyn Boyes.
